Whuffie for beginners

Posted by Mike Sugarbaker at 1:30 am on 3/1/2003

It’s a currency, it’s a trust metric, it’s a chewy candy treat! Actually it’s destined to be just another geeky buzzword, but it’s kind of fun to think about the possibilities.

Sorry for my long absence; the time I blew on RSSwanker has had to be made up for, work-wise. RW will go 1.0 once I commit to writing usernames and passwords into it, as I have realized how bloody insecure my cookie scheme is.

Pretty obvious what would happen. The weblog community is a small example. You’ll get a power law distribution in Whuffies, so instead of a few rich bastards, you’ll have a bunch of pretentious fucks ruling the world. I’d almost prefer the former.

The <blockquote> tags embedded in the description are prematurely ending the <p class=item> style blocks. So the one-pixel borders are ending up under the blockquote rather than at the end of the RSS item. Maybe the item styling needs to belong to the <span class=itemdesc> instead of the paragraph tag. And all these the parameters inside the tags should be in quotes.
