I started this one on a black ground, but I painted the whole head shape white before doing the face. I had wanted to do the whole thing, including the face, on a black ground so I got out my little roller and rolled black over the still-blank face. It looked pretty cool. I did the face the next day and the face sucked, so I rolled over it with black again. So I did some extra unnecessary work, but the bonus is the spooky-cool texturing that you can't see in this photo.
